Half Way Mile Marker - 20 Weeks

The half way mile marker in upon us – today is the beginning of week 20. I have officially been introduced to maternity pants. My waistline is expanding and it was time to give Baby T some more room to grow. We were in Dallas last weekend and made our first visit to Buy Buy Baby, a local baby store. I had NO idea how many different baby gadgets were out there. My mom and Gretchen couldn’t help but buy her a few things – they are just too cute! It is time to get ready for her arrival because the next few months will fly bye. Where do we even begin? Nursery furniture seems to be the most logical starting point.

Baby T has begun to move enough for me to feel her. At first I was like “What in the world was that?” Then it dawned on me that our little girl is growing daily and I will finally get to feel her move and kick. Jennifer found a biblical story book so we have already started reading to her about her Lord and Savior. It’s never too early! Last night she heard the story of Adam and Eve. We can’t wait to actually hold her in our arms while we read her these bedtime stories.

We have our monthly check up next Monday with Dr. Spears. They will have ALL of the ultrasound pictures there for the doctor to discuss with us. I can’t wait to see them all again. We ask that you all continue to pray the God will bless us with a healthy little girl. We will continue to keep you posted.

It's a GIRL!!!

We had an (18 week) ultrasound yesterday to find out Baby Tavera's gender. We were so anxious the whole day because the ultrasound was not until 5:00 when we got off work. The ultrasound tech was very nice and has been doing ultrasounds for 29 years. When he first placed the machine on my tummy Chris instantly stood up clapping and was like "It's a boy right?" The tech said "Chris don't get too excited...this is just the uterus...we haven't gotten that far yet!" The tech took lots of pictures of the doctor to review to make sure our little Baby Tavera is growing properly. Then it was time to reveal the gender. Chris jumped up and said "I think I saw something....Baby T is a boy right?" Again the tech corrected Chris and said, "Wishful thinking again...that was the umbilical cord." And then the big reveal happened...Baby Tavera is a GIRL! I'm sure Chris would have liked to have another boy in the family since those seem to be hard to find, but a little girl is PERFECT! We feel so blessed and trust that God is going to provide a healthy baby girl to us in just a few months. Chris is already worried that he is going to spoil her rotten. I actually think she already has him wrapped around her tiny finger. Now the tough part...coming up with a name for our precious baby girl.
